Auto insurance tips for those facing an accident

A traffic accident is never a think to be happy about. Having even the smallest car accident will surely give you a lot of stress and headache. Not to say that things will be a lot worse if there’s someone injured or the damage to vehicles or property is serious. The best thing to do in such a case is to remain calm and not panic. You will need your cool head for evaluating the extent of damage and injuries before you even contact your insurance company to report the accident. And here are some things to keep in mind if you want to do that right.

Remain cool-headed

The first thing you should do is to calm down. It will certainly be hard especially if you never had accidents before. But this is very important for properly analyzing the situation and helping other people involved if they need help. You have to keep focus on all of the details so you can report them to your insurance agent or the police officer when you will be asked questions.

Call for help first

Prior to evaluating the damage and injuries there’s another thing you have to do. Call 911 and report if there’s anyone injured at the scene. If the accident took place in a location where it is dangerous to remain (heavy traffic, high risk of collision) it is better to move the vehicles to a safer place rather than waiting for the police officer to document the accident. This will save you from additional risk of damage or injury. When you have all of these things done you can take your camera and notepad for documenting the crash.

Gather evidence

Try to get as many pictures and notes from the scene while it is still as-is before the police start moving the vehicles. Then write down how the accident happened step by step as you remember it. If there’s someone who saw it happen around the scene, get their names and contacts, and ask for their version of the accident. It’s not wise to start arguing with them if you don’t agree with them. Just document as many evidences as you can to have plenty of information that can be presented to your auto insurance company or the police.

Help the authorities

When the police arrive to the scene you should cooperate and do everything they say. Report everything you are asked about and ask for an additional copy of the report when it’s compiled. It can be a bit stressful to deal with so much documents but it will make it easier for your auto insurance claim to be processed faster.

Here are some things you have to pay utmost attention when documenting the aftermath of the crash:

1. Compile a list of any personal items that are missing after the accident.

2. Document the physical condition of all the people involved in the crash, even if it’s a light headache. Sometimes a light pain in the arm can turn out to be a fracture a few days later.

3. Take pictures of all the damage resulted from the accident. Take close up pictures of the damaged car parts and any infrastructure that has been affected by the crash.

4. Don’t sign any documents or agreements if you aren’t aware of their content. Contact your lawyer or your cheap auto insurance company to learn what you should do in such a situation.

Five Points to Bear in Mind While Buying Hockey Skates

Skates don’t come cheap and they are perhaps one of the most important pieces of hockey equipment to a player. Therefore it becomes quite important to understand how to purchase skates that will aid your play and help you enjoy the game better. If you are a beginner and are planning to buy yourself a new pair of skates then here are some basic tips to get you started:

1.) Difference between sizing of hockey skates and regular shoes

Hockey skates are generally sized an inch or two smaller than your regular shoes. The reason they are sized smaller is for ankle support and stability. If you get them bigger you will have no support whatsoever and will have a better chance of falling. In addition too much space for your foot to move about in a loose hockey skate may result in injury such as blisters and sprains.

Here are a few points to keep in mind:

a.) Hockey skates need to have a tight fitting. Your toes should be able to feel the front end of the skate while your heel is backed up into the back part of the skate

b.) Different brands have different sizing guidelines. So make sure to check them out before you go for the buy.

c.) Lace up the hockey skates and try to move about by bending your knees to a point where you are almost squatting. In this position, you should feel the toe area loosen up a bit. Considering the fact that your knees will usually be bent as you skate, a feel of comfort in this position is important.

d.) Never buy skates to grow into. This will put you in a risk of injury.

e.) Try to go for boots that come with a multi layered boot construction and reinforced heel. Both these factors aid ankle stability

2.) Blade radius

Blade radius is the actual amount of blade that is in contact with the ice at any point of time. For beginner skaters a larger blade radius of around five inches is recommended. A larger radius increases stability and aids easy maneuverability along the ice surface.

To measure blade radius place the ends of the blades together (bottom to bottom). The length where the edges of the blades make contact is the blade radius.

3.) Break-in period

Break-in period of a skate is the amount of time it takes for the padded lining of the skate to get molded and adjusted to the shape of your feet. How soon the break-in happens depends on a lot of factors like the quality of lining and body-weight of the player among others. A heavier person will generally have a faster break-in period than a light person. So if you have lighter body mass, try to go for skates with a softer lining. You can also try the following tips to for a faster break-in:

a.) Blow hot air into your skate with a blow dryer keeping the dryer at a safe distance. Put the skate on immediately after around 3 minutes of blow drying. This will cause the foam to mold to your foot faster.

b.) Try coating the inside of your skates with thin layer of petroleum jelly, it softens them up. This will aid in a faster break-in as well

4.) Used or New Skates?

Hockey skates are supposed to be stiff. This is something that you should be aware of before buying them. Some people might opt to buy the less expensive used hockey skates instead of the more expensive brand new ones. Bear in mind that used skates may have lost their stiffness factor which is essential for more powerful skating action and support for the legs, feet and ankles.

5.) How much to invest?

You can buy a good pair of skates for anything around $100 to $700. It is recommended not to buy expensive skates for your first pair. Until you play in a league you won’t know what position you are playing or what kind of skate with best accommodate it. The first pair is more for practice and introduction to the sport.

Good luck and play hard!

Understand the process – Student loan

Your first step in implementing a student loan is to complete the FAFSA. Never make the mistake of believing that federal aid is available only to low-income families. This is so untrue. There are programs out there for each quintile. In most cases, all you have to do is ask to receive aid.

Based on the information you provide on your FAFSA, the government will determine how much you and your family can afford to pay for tuition. This is called the Expected Family Contribution or EFC. Your EFC is based on family income, assets, family size, and number of siblings in college. This information is also sent to the schools listed on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Then you must study the Student Aid Report. You want to check and make sure no errors in this report. Compare with the information you put on your FAFSA. If you think that the information in the aggregate of students report or SAR is incorrect, then you can fix this by writing the correct information for review Information Form found on the back of it. If you made the corrections, then you can contact the school and see if it can be forwarded electronically or by mail the form to the address where you are in the SAR.

Once everything has been filled in the form of correct and sent out, then you receive a letter of award of school they were accepted to show the amount of aid for studies may be obtained. It tells you how much you qualify for through scholarships, work-study programs, student loans, and scholarships.

If your letter contains awards a student loan on it, then you will need to complete the loan application for this loan. If this is the first experience of a loan, then you have to learn to responsibly manage their student loans. You can build your credit and protect him from having too much debt.

Finally, you will receive your loan. Depending on what type of loan you requested, how funds are disbursed may vary. One thing that remains unchanged is that the funds are disbursed to you. Your loan will go directly to their school. If there is more money than needed to cover college expenses, the remaining loan amount is sent to you, this applies to ensure that you pay for the cost of college with student loan and not spend on other expenses.

Using a online website builder for your small business.

Article by Kayla Roberts

I am often asked “Should I use a website builder for my small business or should I hire a designer?” Its a excellent question and the answer depends on honestly asking yourself “What type of site do I want/need to build?” and your own capabilities, funds and time you have available on your hands.

If you own a small business and need a website that people can go to online to find your location or contact info or to see a small sampling of what you have to offer, than a website builder can be your best option. It allows you control of your content, and you can update immediately as most website builders have hosting and a automatic publishing feature built it. There is no emailing someone to handle changing your content and then waiting for it to be applied. However with that said, its extremely important to check out the abilities of the website builder. Such as:

Is it easy to use? Is the interface difficult to maneuver around? Sometimes online website builders have the tendency to be clumsy and hard to work with.

What type of finished product does it produce? Preferably you want something that does not really look like a template. You want something that looks professional and customized to your business.

Can you use your business logo or photos on the pages of your site?

Does the website builder offer support for the product?

And of course lastly…does it offer Search engine optimization tools so you have the ability to rank well in the search engine for your target market? If you don’t have the tools necessary to optimize the site there is, truly no point in having a website that people can not find.

website builder are usually very affordable and if you can find one that meets the above, and you don’t mind a slight learning curve, you may realize a site builder is the absolute best and most efficient option.

If you find that you do not have not as much time as you would like to put into creating a website or you are wanting a lot of customization such flash graphics, working with HTML code, or affiliates… then using a website builder can become very tedious. Trying to get the builder to work with these types of options, which are often not integrated, can be very time consuming. Sort of defeating the purpose of using a quick and easy product.

Or perhaps you want to start with a little website now, but want the capability in the near future of having a full blown e-commerce store. A lot of website builders are limited, from the amount of pages you can have on the site… to its upgrade abilities. So if you can not upgrade to what you need…you then have to start over…scraping your website and hiring a designer to do it. Not a place you want to find yourself.

So look around and do a lot of free trials of website builders (almost all of them offer this) compare and see what they have to offer and if it can meet the needs your small business.
